The wall saw is an excellent choice for creating precise openings in any concrete or masonry structure.
Wall sawing employs a circular blade on a track-mounted machine. The track is attached to vertical walls or steep inclines, or floors that will not permit the use of slab saws. Wall sawing is typically specified to cut precise dimensional door, vent and window openings. Straight as well as bevel cuts are possible with the wall saw.
The diamond wall saw blade consists of a circular steel core with diamond segments attached to the periphery. The blade is mounted on the spindle of the wall saw. The spindle runs along the wall saw track that is typically bolted to the cutting surface. Our wall saws are powered by hydraulic units mounted in our trucks and can run blades ranging from 24 to 63 inches in diameter and can cut up to 27 inches in depth.
The use of a wall saw allows a general contractor to safely remove large structures in pieces with the help of a crane or excavator. This method of selective demolition is predictable, fast and produces far less noise, dust and debris than percussive techniques. A professional CSDA contractor and the use of the wall saw can greatly reduce the labor and danger associated with other forms of demolition.
Project Profiles:
East Lansing High School.
Precast panels are made in beds up to 500 feet long and cut to length. Because of the process used to make precast panels, openings must be cut in them after they have been erected.

The B.O.B.
During the winter of 1996, Diamond Drilling was called on by Grand Rapids general contractor Visser Brothers to help in the renovation of the Big, Old Building on the corner of Fulton and Monroe in downtown Grand Rapids, thus the name - the B.O.B.
Visser Brothers contracted us to wall saw 1300 feet of 17-inch to 21-inch and 1100 feet of 13-inch solid brick wall. This building had been vacant for many years and was renovated into a multilevel restaurant and entertainment complex located directly across the street from the new Van Andel Arena.
In addition to this project, Diamond Drilling has also played a major role in many more renovated buildings in the downtown area. This includes the Williams Building and 44 Grandville, each of which included significant cutting in 17-inch to 21-inch brick walls. |
